The world's first affordable 3D scanner for home use.

Introducing the Matterform 3D Scanner. The world's first affordable 3D scanner for home use.
The scanner allows anyone to take a physical object, and turn it into a digital 3D model on your computer. From there, you can print your file on any 3D printer, or online printing service. Or, use the model you created in an animation or video game.

Looks okay, Not too sure about it being the world's first affordable scanner though. I paid less than $100 for my Kinect, it can scan much larger objects, albeit the resolution is not as good. When the new Kinect comes out that will change.

And then there's the David Laser Scanner which has been around a while now, I think it should qualify as being the "the world's first affordable 3D scanner for home use".

This quote about the Matterform is amusing; "...
and rather than relying on a Kinect, it uses actual frikkin' lasers to make it scans." - the Kinect does use a laser.

Its still pretty cool. When these are under $100 folks will buy them like an appliance. When the scanner is built directly to a printer, so that you can scan object and print copies with no intervention, the world will be a different place.
