hello all. i am very interested in building a dive computer as it is my hobby, apart from stamp programs. still i am having a bit of problem because first of all i dont know if there is a pressure sensor that is waterproof. i do have a lcd for a screen and a button to switch between 2-3 utilities ( depth, non decompression time, and saturation time left).
i already have a dive computer that does the job and im not putting myself in any danger. i just want to learn.

thank you in advance!

john

As you've pointed out, this application is bordering on a "life safety issue", so there won't be too many folks providing speciifc recommendations.

However, for the pressure transducer, you should look for an industrial device and you can start at Omega Engineering website (http://www.omega.ca/shop/psc.html) both for catalog information and application suggestions.

    Cheers,

Did you mean a pressure system for your air or for the water depth? I've been wanting to dive with an ROV that had all that stuff onboard. Just a thought but you'll find a lot of people building ROVs would know about all the sensors you need, I think. Maybe something like this - http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/MPX4250AP/MPX4250AP-ND/464053 I'm not sure of the mechanics of how you set it up but I don't think the sensor itself needs to be waterproof. If you use a BP&W the backplate makes a good spot to attach something. If the sensor is for your HP/LP you'd be better off hacking something already built, leaving everything on the tank side intact so you don't have to worry about safety issues (related to your computer at least).
