I recently needed an OpenDMX dongle in a hurry. A quick Google revealed that said dongle consists of FT232 and an RS485 driver. So out cam the prop plug, small piece of strip board, a MAX488 and few pcb pins. 15 minutes later all up and running. Made client very happy.
EDIT: Just looked at FTDI site and their USB-COM485-PLUS1 module. Looked good at £18.50. And then choked on the £45.00 shipping cost.
EDIT: Element14 have them for $39. Spend $10 more and get free shipping. No brainer really as DMXKing ultraDMX Micro cost US$59.

Don't know about you but I can always come up with a few extra goodies to buy so I can get free shipping.
Hi kwinn
I'll probably get a couple as I have a couple of other projects that can make good use of them and can properly complete the installation mentioned previously.
Cheers
