help with off the shelf FM transmitters

Hi, this is more a curiosity than anything i will likly pursue, I was searching ebay for controllers and other items and came accross FM broadcasters. The question I hope you can answer here is... why do 1 Watt FM broadcasting units cost at least double that of higer wattage units ? FFor example I found a 7 W unit near half the price of a 1W unit, and this seems common.

    Prices on ebay can vary wildly, so it's not a very good place for getting an idea on item prices, especially if you have only a handful of data points. One day an item can go for $50 and on the next day the same exact item will never get above a $1.99 starting bid. The realm of ebay is not necessarily the most consistent of markets.

    It may also be that units advertised as 1W are built to meet stringent FCC regs that the 7W units are not.
