The Opti-Grab of the new millenium? :) Interesting concept, though probably not the game changer it's touted as. It freezes regularly on Google Hangout at the 4-minute mark in the video.

Gina Trapani is one of the hosts for the "All About Android" podcast. Because she's a developer she enrolled in the Glass beta and described her experiences on the show. A summary "It's neat but people look at you like you're a dork while wearing them. They have a sunglasses shield which helps obscure their true nature, but only somewhat. Around the house they're great as a hands free video camera."

I imagine another use case would be protesters documenting their actions and government counter actions in real time. At that point the dork factor is less important than documenting events. Conversely police could use them during a riot to document participants for eventual prosecution.

Doctors and dentist can used these to document their work for teaching and legal liability.

News reporters can do street interviews without a camera crew (there goes a few jobs).

I suspect that law enforcement will see them as a big advantage as well, but it is already getting a bit bizarre with all the video cameras watching street corners, all the cell phones with cameras, and the iPads.

When the IRS issues them to tax auditors it may be time to immigrate elsewhere. But where?

A worry would be how easy they would be to snatch from someone's face, they need to look more like glasses and not a wearable computer

First we had hands free cell phones that turned people in babbling lunatics and yobs that ruined movies and the theatre.

Now we get pervertware from the evil doers at Google.

The good thing is they are hackable and jammable.

Don't want a Google sponsored pervert videoing your locale? Jam the area.

Hacking them would be great. Imagine if it's a doctor using them and someone hacks into the video feed and gets access to his patient files, password, etc. Just wait until a patient see's a video of themselves on youtube - lawsuits for everyone.

Casinos have already banned them in advance.

Gyms and bars will need to do the same.

Failing that, just give the dork wearing them a hard slap on the back of the head then stomp on the glasses when they hit the ground and that should put a end to these Google pervs.

How long will it be before health insurance companies require you to wear something like this? After all, how else will they be able to confirm that you're truly a non-smoker, and that you don't drink too much, or eat too much sugar, or exercise too little, or.... or... or....??? Of course, you can always opt out of wearing something like this, but the "unmonitored health insurance rate" will then be.... hmmm, let's see.... you wouldn't happen to have any extra internal organs by chance, would you?

I think Google realizes that the Google Glass is a device that will eventually only exist in niche applications and not have everyone walking around filming everyone else.

But I also think that Google is hoping that the initial buzz about the Google Glass will create a temporary novelty demand.

It is all about more Sales mean more profit. Consumers buy impulsively, but even it the exercise machine is never used, it is cash flow to the seller. Same thing applies to the Google Glass.

If you have something that you don't want anyone to know, maybe your name is Bill Gates, George Soros, Warren Buffett, Jim Rogers, or Eric Schmidt. Getting rich is done by not telling people how to do it. It is all about getting their first and making the most of being first.

So is Eric Schmidt saying he should never have gotten rich? Or is this business as usual in a world of liar's poker?

They have to come up with a USB 3.0 and above spec. for extended battery life and video streaming.... This device is just too cool not to hack....
