Audi finally impressed me... with a cute video. Just like Iron Man, keep watching until the very end.

Man is Leonard Nimoy looking old...

Of course he does, he's 82 years old! I hope I look that good at 82. Heck, I hope I'm just still around.

I've told everyone about that video. 'Tis a keeper.

Leonard Nimoy came from a very poor family and the bad nutrition that brings, and smoked heavily as a younger man. But he quit smoking, and became a vegetarian. (He even got William Shatner to do the same.) I'd say he looks terrific for a man of 82. It's never too late to start living right!

When you are a TV/Movie star it tends to freeze your age. It was a little shocking to see this after watching a couple TNG episodes where he guest-starred recently. (Filmed quite a while back)

Everybody makes jokes about Nimoy's "Bilbo Baggins" song. I never heard it when I was younger. I did, however, wear out my copy of Mr. Spock's Music From Outer Space. Seriously.

I cringe when I recall my older sisters back in the 1970's playing their vinyl records on endless repeat on their "hi-fi" stereo with several ounces of pressure on the original needle (stylus) that never got changed. It had to be like a lathe, removing another microscopic layer of vinyl every time it played. The only thing worse was the steel needle (or yes, sometimes a cactus needle) used in early 78 RPM players with HEAVY STEEL tonearms. Not exactly the linear-tracking Accutrac 4000 of its day. :)

I now have the Mr. Spock album on CD (double album no less), and the original put away safely. I still listen to it sometimes building robots. (The pop TOS theme is a now-classic example of retro lounge.)

My record player at the time was some cheap plastic turntable, not even an automatic, and I did change the needle every once in a while. They were only 68 cents at Woolworths -- heck, the Mr. Spock record only cost me 99 cents (it was in the bargain bin, and is one of the more rare "mono" versions). For my "hi-fi" I connected the record player to a home-built 3-tube amplifier that always managed to give me a shock because it had loose wires in the back. Made me the bzzt-bzzt that I am today.

Ahh, the subtle quality of vinyl to be able to reproduce the variability of live performances by slightly changing the audio quality with each successive playback. (it's all in the marketing!!)
