Maybe a Little Too Quiet...

Seems a little quieter than normal in the forum lately. I'm betting it's a self-induced lull due to this weekend's OPC draining resources. People are so busy optimizing code and putting the finishing touches on AI robots and anti-grav and flux capacitor projects that there's just no time for idle forum chatter.

Pretty much the same reason that Mars rover Opportunity slipped itself into standby mode: resting up for all the exciting OPC proceedings! http://news.yahoo.com/mars-rover-opportunity-slips-standby-mode-nasa-says-002354041.html

    Some of us are also busy with other things...

    I'm hanging out at scaledtanks.com (may be contemplating a 'small project'), tinkering with my car and playing World of Tanks.

    Yeah, I've been a bit quiet on the home built robot front. I have two projects in flight, but a distinct lack of time. In my case it's the rest of my life. We had someone quit at work and I've been filling in, entropy took hold around the house and the honey do list got out of control, and we've been trying to get the Webelos II ready for crossing over to boy scouts.

    Spring has Sprung
    The Grass has Riz
    I know where 6 hours of my weekend is!

    My job has changed, I'm learning and supporting and developing a BIG application using: java, oracle/sql, perl, javascript, Spring/MVC, Spring Hibernate, JSP, Dreamweaver and stuff I haven't stepped into yet.

    The 4-H projects are gearing up. (Cheap robots with first-time soldered Arduinos (and maybe some Propellers))

    Did I mention Spring time honey-do's?

    Plus all the other carryover projects on the house list.

    Plus family stuff.....

    ...and stuff I'm forgetting until it rears it's ugly head. All of which of course needs to be done in opposite relation to its "fun factor"

    ...about all I have time to do is read and add things to my fun project list! :lol:

    P2 has me holding my breath. And drumming my fingers. And crossing my toes. Besides, the Russian paraglider video I posted was a dismal failure.

    I've been building linux boxes and hacking an old AppleTV to run linux. It actually compiles propgcc. I set up a IRC chat for propgcc too: #propgcc is the chanel on AfterNet.org.

    Wish I could go to OPC.

    @Phil,

    Most excellent!!! One of my many loves, sailing and the boats that make it possible! This is a perfectly acceptable reason to be otherwise occupied.

    Keep us posted on the progress.

    That's pretty neat Phil!

    How does your laser do with Depron Foam?

    The boat would be a lot lighter, but not as pretty. :)

    If I could copy my 26' O'day in Depron, with the 10 HP Yanmar, I could do some serious knots/hr. :)

    It never seems to matter when OPC is scheduled, everything possible happens on the ramp up. So I am busy with life and code...

    This year is seeing work shake ups too. That has me doing extra things as well.

    I wouldn't go as far as to call it a dismal failure but I would have preferred a better look at the paraglider over listening to the singing.

    Someone is working on me to get a Amateur Radio Liscense.... they gave to a rado kit as an incentive too...

    Quite, not around here. In Scandinavia May Day is a big holiday. It generally goes like this;

    Excellent feedback. I'll get better at this yet.

    BTW, most tandem wings have about the same look, similar to my old avatar shown below. Only recently have folks been using smaller, higher performance wings for tandem flight.
