Motor specifications

Can someone help with the current draw on these 24 VDC motors purchased on eBay. I can't seem to find anywhere what the actual motor specs are for these motors (for Jet 3 Powerchair Scooter Electric Wheelchair) The motors do not have any spec plate or part number. I have tried to Google the motor description given on eBay with no luck. Of course I can determine current draw by throwing an amp meter in the circuit. Just wanted to see if anyone actually had the motor specs.

Thanks

I think a power chair of that size will generally use a 50 amp controller. So I would hazard a guess that they can draw about 20 amps each. An HB-25 will drive a wheelchair motor at 12V if not put under a large load.

Even with specs, many items on EBay are a bit unclear. I just recommended some Chinese stepper motors to someone and due to the culture and language barrier, specs are less. So it really comes down to some indication of raw power, unless you buy a branded motor from a manufacture that provides detailed information.

20 amps at 12 volts is about 240 watts. (Amps X Volts = Watts)
And one horsepower is approximately 750 watts.
So your motors would be about 1/3 horsepower.

To be sure, you really need to bench test the motor under a load, and at a stall.

I love to save money and really believe that "A penny saved is a penny earned". So I feel that it is worth buying these bargains. But I try to buy a bit larger motor than I really need as excess power is always welcome. And then I try to create a bench test that will satisfy me.

One does have to be careful as some motors are intended just for fans ... high RPM and little load. Others are intended for power tools -- short burst of powerful use, but no continuous use. Using the wrong motor can cause it to fail prematurely.

Here is an ebay link to the same motor I purchased, but I plan on bench testing to be sure. My existing project includes two HB25 but I am upgrading to a track system using snow blower tracks so I don't think the HB25's will survive! the base will be quite heavy. Thanks for the help.

The motor and electronics have a 1 year warranty when new. Here is the owner's manual. It may give you a better idea of what to expect.
