Particularly noteworthy is the fact that the scanning system sees obstacles 164 feet in front of the car. Chosen, no doubt, because the engines of late model Corvairs are 164 CID.

    It is a rare individual who knows the size of a Corvair engine. And, yes, I agree, what else could the range be based on?

    Literal conversion from 50 metres.

    One of my pet peeves is when people take an approximate, rounded value and convert it to another unit as if it is a highly-precise number. I'd just round it to the nearest 50 feet and be satisfied with 150.
