My search found exactly what I wanted - in the archives. Is there a way to get the code file that was attached to the message?

For example at http://forums.parallax.com/archive/index.php/t-78710.html.

I guess not. It looks like the attachments didn't get archived with the message for some reason.

Did you click on the "View Full Version" towards the top?
