Sending sensor data to display on LCD

Hi, I'm new to Parallax and currently working on a project that reads a signal from an infrared sensor in a basic loop program. The goal is to send the high / low signal to a simple conversion program (counter to MPH - creating an anemometer). This should be displayed on a 2 x 16 parallel LCD. I don't have the counting program yet but a loop for the sensor and the Parallax Display Demo.bs2
My question at this point is how to combine the programs to achieve this. Any help would be appreciated!

Banner SM30 mm Barrel Sensor
Regulated 12 v power source
741 Schmitt Trigger
Parallax Basic Stamp 2
603-00006 2 x 16 Parallel LCD

Sounds like an interesting project. Could you post links to the parts you plan to use and a circuit diagram of the device. I'd start by having the output go to the serial terminal until you get the programming down and then worry about the LCD. Show us what you have so far so we can help.
