What is most remarkable about this particular YouTube video is that it has had more viewings than the sum total of all that Steve Jobs created.

I wouldn't have done that to an iPad...

Not because I'm an iFan(I am. My home computer is a souped up Mac Mini, and there's literally heaps of Macs in my attic. Don't own an iPad, though...), but because that thing contains a Li-Ion battery...

You might end up with 'Will it Burn' instead...

I suppose that if his blender had gone up in a fireball, the number of viewers would just double.

The thing is that one can build a wider media presence by being absurdly distructive and imature. When I watch Discovery Channel or National Geographic Channel in Taiwan, it seems that you either have to have a cooking show where you eat disgusting exotic foods, or you have to blow up something to get high ratings.

Good old American ingenuity is NOT about intelligence and finesse. Other, more viceral themes are in play.

I really wonder how much actual money this guy is making from "Will It Blend?" TV personal appearances, checks from YouTube, and so on.

Actually the views, subscribers, comments, and likes can be "generated" using authentic accounts (computer generated millions of accounts) and then YouTube will suggest popular videos to the average "Youtuber".

It is really cool actually i have done it with my instagram(mobile picture sharing) and no one ever seems to catch on. :P

Tom Dickson (the host) is the CEO of Blendtec. Guess the pay was pretty good before.

According to this study by SocialLens, Blendtec's sales have increased 700% since 2006. Considering that the beginning materials for the first few videos cost a sum total of under 100 dollars, I'd say the investment paid off.
