My own Basic Stamp 2 SX. Brownout detector question

Hi,

I am trying to design my own Basic Stamp 2sx .
I have the interpreter chip ( Dip format) , memory , etc.

But I have a question about the brownout detector.

I understand I have to add the brownout detector because
last interpreter chips don't have it.

I need to know if this chip is important. And what could
occur if I don't add it.
