Robotix claw

Hi, I have an old robotix claw that I have tried to make work with the basic stamp and not having muck luck.
Hoping somebody can point me in the right direction.

I can make it work by hooking it up to the vdd and vss but thaat just makes it open or close.

Can't seem to get any of the pins to do anything. any thoughts would be appreciated.

You can damage your Stamp trying to drive a motor directly from an I/O pin. You need a transistor and probably a relay to power your motor.

Here's an article about driving high current loads from a Stamp.

Make sure you test the I/O pin with a normal LED (and resistor) to make sure it still works.
