Someone has pointed out that with the monitor, it would be feasible now to wirelessly program the P8X32C That would be neat for applications like robotics (where wires are encumbrance)
Have you thought about integrating Bluetooth on development boards to get rid of the programming cable?
There is a "new" Bluetooth soc (Cortex M0) from Nordic Semiconductors for about 5$ : http://www.nordicsemi.com/eng/Products/Bluetooth-R-low-energy/nRF51822
There is even a project called rfduino build around that soc : http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1608192864/rfduino-iphone-bluetooth-40-arduino-compatible-boa?ref=live
This soc could be programmed to act as a wireless serial terminal and propeller chip programmer.
