Would be nice to get my hand on a e-paper display. My friend keeps showing off his Kindle and points out how retarded my LCD display is. Problem is I can find nowhere to buy a display with controller and serial comms. Does anyone know where?

    How about Pervasive Displays? They have a few development/demo kits.

    Denistron would be a bit closer to you. I can't seem to get any real info on the kits-- possibly not offered in the Americas yet...

    Also this little guy from Sparkfun. Really though, this topic is generic enough that I could do this for a while...:smile:

    A bit more seriously: any device is useless if you don't have the correct content. The stuff you need. Don't' get me wrong, e-paper is cool. But if it's in a device that doesn't do what you want, then it's superfluous. Tell your friend to grow up.:lol:

    2.7inch around $30 each

    I would only choose these costly type of displays, if the item is battery operated and just need screen refreshing a few times an hour.

    @tonyp12

    This looks like it. I'll buy one and check it out. With SPI interface it shouldn't be too hard run. My (to be) device is indeed battery operated and does not need frequent updates. The idea is to make a portable barometer with a good resolution trend graphics. Lots of similar gadgets around, but I've never found one like this, only ones with lousy trending and cluttered with silly forecast symbols. I sail and I paraglide - knowing the weather is fundamental.

    How can I tell my friend to grow up?- he is only 26, he'll have to wait for years and years.

    If your friend is not a rebel at 26 it's never going to happen.
    Perhaps you should point him at this young rebel's video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a35XINnYFtA&feature=player_embedded
