Since folks here seem to like to tinker with things, I thought this would be of interest to some. I'm reading it, though I doubt I'll get much out of it, since it's mainly concerned with hardware mods (at least so far) and soldering is beyond my capabilities, but It's good read anyway, working on chapter two at the moment. You can grab a copy of the book for free at no starch press

This should be interesting, I've purchased books from them before, and they were easy to work with, and made learning the topic relatively simple.
Hope this is of interest to someone.

Bunnie released his book to honor Aaron Swartz. While this is not a political group it is kind of unseemly to partake of the offering without respecting why it is there.

Linux on an Xbox! Now that makes me smile.

For some reason, I just have never been able to accept the idea that the computer hardware must adhere to one OS. I feel that the user should be able to change the OS much as a buyer of an automobile might choose to select a different set of tires.

These game machines offer a lot of hardware enhancements that students can learn from via reverse engineering. But we live in a world where some want everything to be secret and expensive and licensed.

The page I linked to gives more information about why it's there than the page you linked to does. The nostarch press page gives about 3 paragraphs about why it's there, your link gives only 1, and an abbriviated one at that. If I'd pointed directly to the pdf, then I could see the need for your post, but honestly, I don't get this one.
<shrug> to each their own I guess.

Well I didn't follow your link since I assumed it was a direct link to the book; that's what you made it seem like. I linked directly to the home page of the person who wrote and released the book.
