I acquired the following Fiber Optic devices but I have no idea as to how or where to use them. If anyone here knows anything about these items could you briefly explain what they are and can be used for? Thanks.

I used to work on semiconductor wafer probers that used Keyence fiber optics to 'map' the wafers in a cassette. A laser diode shown a beam through the cassette to a receiver on the back side. The receiver was connected to an amplifier, sort of like what is in your first link. The machine would lower the cassette through the beam and could tell by the length of the pulse interruptions which slots of the cassette held wafers. It could also detect 'cross-slotted' wafers as it was not looking straight-on into the cassette, but at an angle.
