Autonomous, voice control, follows you around, transmits streaming video... all for $49? Hmmm. Erco has doubts...

..but for $49 when/if it's ever licensed or sold by AI or IA or whoever.....it's worth that just for the hack factor.

Weddings should be fun with everybody's mecam vying for space. You'll need a way to ENFORCE restricted airspace!

AI, acually has very cool products. They were one of the original companies that made me want to start doing embedded projects! They have a tablet based on the beagle bone, which can turn in to a netbook with a keyboard add on. Very neat stuff, usually AI's gear is a bit pricey, but If there aunouncing this it probably works fairly well and isn't vapor.

Let's see if I understand this correctly. It accepts voice commands, so it must have a microphone. But where? On the same platform as four screaming motor-driven propellers?

Silly Phil. Surely they've seperately perfected an adaptive, embedded, hidef, hires, bluetooth dolby quad noise cancelling algorithm. There's an app for that!

Is the voice recognition also tuned into your vocal pattern? If not a complete stranger can walk by take verbal control and get all sorts of embarrassing video of you!

Oh, and I forgot disruptive. :)

That seems to be the buzzword de jour for crowdfunding, anyway.

Back when I was in gradeschool, disruptive was a BAD thing. My, how times have changed.

I imagine the voice commands would needed to spoken into the smart phone.

I tried adding an ultrasound to my $100 HobbyKing quadcopter, it worked fine as long as the motors were off. Apparently those little motors output some high frequency noise. I haven't mentioned much about my quadcopter ultrasound experiments since it would give erco yet another chance to say "I told you so".

I just don't see a microphone on a quadcopter being of much use except to record the sounds the quadcopter is making.

A phone makes sense for a microphone. Just don't make it go too high for aerial shots or the Air Force may mistake it for a drone and shoot it down :).

If it realy works then why do they use an animated video to showcase it? I would buy one just to play around with but they are not available yet.
