Searching for NiMH based UPS to be used in a car.

I plan to use a 12V/2A device that has a 9.6V built-in NiMH battery pack that need to be charged and used when driving, while operating from the batteries when outside of a car.

There are some plain chargers but without UPS functionality mainly for R/C battery packs to re-charge them conveniently from inside your car.

However, does anybody know of the UPS device that does the same inside the car but uses rechargeable NiMH battery packs instead?
Most UPS devices use SLA batteries but I need to find an of the shelf gadget (or plain pcb circuit) that does the same with NIMH 9.6V battery pack.

The best would be just a PCB with basic UPS components for NiMH as I need to modify it to fit inside a small enclosure.
