Today's "Taipei Times" reports that by the end of the year, "smart" disposable diapers are likely to hit the market. These have built-in sensors and are being developed by the state-funded Industrial Techonology Research Institute of Taiwan.
"A sensor module in the diaper senses when it has been soiled and sends a wireless transmission signal to a designated phone...."
Added to this, the Japanese have been seeing a growing popularity if patented de-odorizing underware. The two technologies seem to have a synergy.

For any doubters, three Taiwanese companies are working together to bring these to market. Personally, it would be just another good reason for me to turn off my cell phone.
