Setting aside the question of whether a prosthetic engineer should be allowed to call him or herself an "engineer," today I received an email from the producers of the Dirty Job series, announcing they are casting for a new unscripted show revolved around the creation of uber-prosthetics. Not my bailiwick, but someone here may be interested, or know of a person who might want to send in their resume. The positions are paid.

I'm thinking of pitching MattG and Nick for their own series -- Quadcopter Wars. At the end of each episode the loser of whatever contest they had has to go into Ken's office and listen to him play the clarinet!
(Now Ken, you know I'm just joking!)

Oh no, it's all true. The whole family leaves the room and heads to the other side of the house when I play clarinet. Even the cat takes off, and this cat loves me a whole bunch because I give her treats. Once in a while I get a bit of encouragement from my boys, letting me know that I am actually better than I was six months ago. It's a humbling exercise in patience and a test of the middle-aged brain's slow ability to make fingers, eyes and breathing work together.
