I was looking around doing a little research on the wiimote camera and ended up at the Make website, and saw this article

pretty interesting stuff the sensor works over blue tooth, you can fine an intro kit here for $99 bucks http://store.neurosky.com/products/brainwave-starter-kit i had no idea this technology was so cheap now.

I'd buy that book. On the link the book says $4.99 but when you click on it it says $7.99!!!
It's tough to get a clean signal with cheap sensors. I think there are a few devices that may work well but they cost more than $99.
This is still a field I find very interesting and hope to do some more experiments with my headset but a joystick is much easier to use than trying to get you brain to behave in a predictable manner (I suppose I should just speak for myself, maybe other peoples' brains are better behaved than mine).
Are you ready to go under a knife for the sake of research?

I was told that the sensors are very easy, just need instrumentation amplifiers, its the software that irons out the wrinckles in the cerebellum that is the tough part. But it seems this product has that solved, or at least a very good start.
Here's the video from the project. Jury is still out on if it was actually reading my brain. Heck, jury still out on my actually having a brain so who knows?!!?

I'm not totally convinced it senses anything.
We have been intending to take one apart forever, but never got around to it.
This was my first impression too. However I found whenever I'd concentrate on the building instructions the "concentration" parameter went up.
I tapped into the raw data from it. It's missing some of the parameters the neurosky device outputs (I think they use the same module). Part of the output is a "signal quality" parameter. I noticed this parameter was generally very low.
This thread is making me want to dig out my hacked headband again.
