PPDB Not Running Suddenly

My Professional Development Board is not communicating with my computer suddenly. I get the error no Propeller Chip found on any port. I can unplug my USB cable and plug it directly into my QuickStart board and the computer finds it. I have installed a new Propeller chip and EPROM into the board and checked the voltage going to the propeller and it is good. I have also tried to communicate using different software packages. I have used the Propeller Tool, ViewPort, and 12 Blocks with no luck but all will work with my QuickStart board. It worked fine last night but dead this morning.

Any Suggestion?

There are essentially two reasons for this sort of problem:
    1) No power to the Propeller (or inadequate power)
    2) Serial port not connected or working
That's it! The EEPROM doesn't have to work. The crystal doesn't have to work. It looks like you've eliminated #1 by checking the supply voltage at the Propeller chip. That leaves #2. You've checked the PC end of things and the USB cable, so that's not it. That leaves the FTDI chip and its associated connections to the Propeller. That's not easy to check, so I'd suggest calling Parallax Tech Support on Monday. They may have some suggestions and they could repair / replace your PPDB if necessary.

I know this is an old post, but, I have the exact same problem. I did notice that on my other board it runs on com5 while my ppdb is running on com3 I did replace the actual propeller chip and no change. I changed cables, checked power supply. Usb seems to connect with the normal usb connect sound from computer running windows 8.1

This board worked perfect with all components then stopped. does the com 3 versus com 5 between the boards indicate any ideas?

just solved my problem.... variable power supply switch moved to 4.5 volts instead of 9 volts.
