Welcome to the year of the snake :)

From a very noisy Beijing, where the fireworks have started for the coming 2 weeks

I'm surprised you can even see fireworks through the smog.

Happy Chinese New Year! Wear ear plugs and a noise canceling headset to get any sleep. I don't need to see Beijing fireworks as the deafening roar (and vibrating windows) is enough.

    Fireworks in Taiwan

There are fireworks during CNY but nothing like the 101 fireworks during the Gregorian calendar's New Year. Last night, they launched fireworks close enough to hit my sky balcony! It could be dangerous for anyone standing there and I hoped the M40 and M80 charges would not go through the glass. On the good side, the humidity is so great, nothing will burn. It also helps to live in a city with buildings made mostly of brick covered with ceramic.

Gong Xi Fa Tsai. Hong Bao Na Lai?

Don't take out the garbage until Valentine's Day or you risk bad luck for the year.
