I was investigating 6502 and Z-80 based computers with the thought of maybe building or breadboarding a very basic one just to experiment with. I found plenty of info to keep me occupied. One thing I ran across that people here may find interesting (assuming you didn't already know about it) is the replica 1 which is small single board computer that's functionally equivalent to the Apple I computer. Check out the big 40 pin chip on the right side of the board (photo here).

    I built one of the earlier models of that board in a workshop with Vince Briel at one of the Bay Area Vintage Computer Festivals a while back and even got Steve Wozniak to sign it! It's a very nice kit. Vince does a great job with all of his projects.
