Would anyone care if I say I've returned?

Hello!
I've been largely away from the stamps for a long while because, well a series of reverses happened. Starting with the fact that my collection of hardware departed. It is not known what happened to all of it, including the Prop board. But I am not blaming anyone, family included. :frown:Certainly no one in here.:innocent:

So after a time of waiting and trying other gadgetry I decided to go out on a "Wing and a prayer" and track down something. I ended up buying this fellow http://www.parallax.com/Store/Microcontrollers/BASICStampDevelopmentBoards/tabid/137/CategoryID/12/List/0/SortField/0/Level/a/ProductID/781/Default.aspx and from a Radio Shack in Manhattan. And I am happy to say that my idea works. I chose a favorite, that of the TI83Plus to BS2 program example.

And the calculator and the board survived.......

Of course we care, Buck. Welcome back! :)

Now let's see what you've done with your calculator and HW board!

    Hello!
Nothing special so far. Just ran the example and saw the numbers on the calculator and the debug screen match what the notes on the webpage indicate. I used what was written here http://smallrobot.bizland.com/bs2ti.html for my efforts this time. Turned out I had the calculator support items stored locally, but needed to get a newer release of the loader stuff that TI has. Turned out the calculator already had installed the programs described there. But I made sure they were updated.

Now the effort will be one of sorting out the classic one of "Where do I go next?". No clew but heck of a lot of steps to take.

My guess is that some people might be embarrassed to return to Parallax if they are still using a BS2.

My own feelings are that you are as welcome as ever. Sure the Propeller has overtaken it in many ways, but there is an incredible amount that can be done with just a BS2 and all the learning material is still excellent.

    Welcome back.

Where is the embarrassment with BS2? It's a great platform, well supported, well documented, and comfortable to get into.

    Welcome Back Buck!

When our friend posted that he was explaining the merely obvious. You yourself noted the incredibly obvious with this one:
Of course we care, Buck. Welcome back!

Incidentally I am still working my through what I do best regarding managing TTL logic and the stamp and a calculator.

This entire thread resembles the best definition for serendipity.

    Welcome back Buck!

And BS2's ROCK! They were my first and will always be my favorite. And I use them extensively in products that sell well and are priced still below the competition for the same functions. They're "friendly", as is TTL logic, another old friend! :-)
