alternate Serial Interface

I would like to try programming my Spinneret with a different serial interface. I bought a PL2303HX USB to Serial converter from Amazon.

It has Ground, Rxd, Txd and VCC Can't I just use three wires and this adapter? Gnd Rxd and Txd?

I am using Windows 7 and the drivers load. The port shows up in the Propeller Tool Preferences, however it does not see the Propeller Chip.

Everything works fine with the Propeller Plug...

I don't think the PL2303HX USB to Serial converter is going to work to well out of the box.

The reset line (DTR) on the Prop Plug is used for resetting the Propeller. I believe DTR is also involved in program download timing.
