Wired up my Chicken Coop with a Spinneret!

I've been hard at work on my Automatic Chicken coop door setup lately. Now I have it online with a Status page via a Spinneret:

It's a very plain page at this point, but I've got some of the basics working.

Give it a try: http://208.104.39.5:5000

Thanks for looking!

Of course, now it's not working. :(

It was hanging up earlier. I thought I had it fixed.

I haven't figured out how to install a web cam yet. LOL

The spinneret seems to be hanging ... perhaps too many requests?

I just checked and it reports that Doc's Flock has hacked & hijacked the FDA's website in retaliation for some new Chik-Fil-A store opening...

I have never worked with Spinnernet so I am not sure about that issue. However, a wireless web cam would be pretty easy to do. Just forward another port to it and add it to your web page. Unless you have a router set up in the chicken coup. In that case, just connect any IP camera to the router and open a port to the cameras IP address and create a link on the web page.

Fun stuff! Almost missed this thread... would you consider moving it to the Spinneret forum? I too am having similar hit and miss operation using the Spinneret and Mike's new code. Perhaps if you follow/comment my current 'problematic access' thread on the Spinneret forum we'll both resolve our problems. Hope that you'll post some working code, mechanical details, and video soon.

This was supposed to be a 'show and tell' post, but it turns out it's not working like I thought.
Hope that you'll post some working code, mechanical details, and video soon.
I should probable start a new thread in the spinneret forum.

I have pointed the port to a second Spinneret that I have running here in the house with the same code. The difference is the coop controller prop in this case is an 'emulator' of sorts so it does not have the Sensirion Temp and Humidity or the RTC. I have emulated the switch sensors and door position indicator and the ADC light monitoring.

    @doggiedoc
I received a PM from a sender that claims to be one of your chickens and is asking for help with your Spinnerette code.

You didn't actually provide the coop with a computer with web browser, did you? If so, you might have a chat with your chickens about seeking outside help. I really don't know what to say to them. How much did you teach these chickens?

BTW, I did visit your web page.. Doc's Flock.

Loopy, I have access to certain "chemical preparations" that enhance the chickens cognitive abilities. It was only logical after a point to provide them with internet access and a laptop in the coop for research.

Oh but I have other 'fox deterrent strategies' that I employ:

@skylight - I've got some of the kinks worked out. One problem was brown out issues form current draw on the battery. The WiFi adapter on the spinneret just pulls too much power. I ran a drop cord out to the coop for a quick fix until I can figure out something more permanent. There still seems to be a issue with the spinneret hanging on occasion but I haven't sorted that out yet.

How about two counters on the web site?
One for egg production to date.
One for chicken dinners to date.

Maybe a monthly or quarterly fox sighting report.

Redid the code with MikeG's new code base - seems to be more robust now!
