VIA seems to have learned that their nice cheap ARM based APC computer was crippled by lack of IO for geeks to play with.
So they now have a new version with GPIO and other ports.
All wrapped up a card board case!

$100 Android 4.0 box. Rock with VGA, Paper without. Where's the scissors?
I'm gonna noodle on this one. Might just need to buy this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lost-in-Space-Metal-Lunch-Box-lunchbox-Irwin-allen-tin-tote-Robinson-new-sealed-/140903361239
What a wonderful way to take a thread off topic. I have to have one of those lunch boxes. If only to keep my Lost In Space robot in.
looks like the same board is used for both APCs. So a connector, a leaded IC, and some passives look like all that's needed to get VGA on the "Paper" version.

I don't want to put my money down until I'm sure I can get Debian running on there.
I forbid it. Do NOT buy that lunch box. Do NOT send me $10.
