Its a wonder people use these. Myself included here.

Fram has always been a superior product that has suffered from a minor market share. Thus, they have to charge a lot of survive in a niche sub-market.

Cypress recently purchased Ramtron, and it is interesting to see Cypress also offer a

CY14B101Q1A-SXI NVSRAM

at about half the price of the Ramtron part, - so it is clear they want to buy the customer base, and kill off FRAM.


Microchip took a different path, and they have SPI memory you can battery-back. for about $2, so you really have to need that small increment the NVSRAM or FRAM delivers.
