Cubieboard is now working, but.....

Hi all,
I got my Cubieboard to load images to Nand Flash and have even located the Linux root directory. Lots of choices in software, so lots to study and explore.

But, the GPIO headers are rather odd - 2mm spacing of double pins. Whereas, the usual ribbon cable is 2.54mm spacing (or 0.1"). Has anyone worked with these connectors before.

As it is, it seems a bit of a bottleneck in extending the uses of it.

Things are slowly but surely going metric Loopy. There are connectors and ribbon cables available in 2mm spacing.

Changes in form factor are always a bit troublesome to hobbyist. I'd gotten quite comfortable with 2.54mm ribbon cables.

In this case, I have two 2x24 headers (48pins each) and I have located 2x22 (44 pin) ribbon cables in a 3M catalog.

It seems that I will have to use 2x25 or 50pin ribbon cable to get the board connected. I tried to use the 2x22 (44pin) and some pins are blocking the connector plugging in.

Of course, the board designer seemed to forget that the ends of the ribbon connectors take up space as well, so the mounting holes have a bit of conflict. But I think I can work around all that.

This must be a local source? The most common size ribbon cable seems to be 0.05" (1.27mm) spacing.

0.05"? Maybe I got this wrong, but I don't think so. Are you referring to the cable spacing or the pinout spacing? I am concerned about the pinout. It seems both the 2.54 and 2mm pinout might use 0.05" cable.

In any event the problem is resolved. So I have tons of GPIO with the Cubieboard if I want to figure out how to write drivers to reach it all.
