Before I kick an answer your direction, how comfortable are you with Propeller Spin? I'm assuming from your post count that you are new here and are using a Propeller? I don't just want to kick an object link to you if you are just getting started.
That said, there are some really nice objects for dealing with Sony/NEC remotes, reading other remotes, transmitting, and even recording code to be re-transmitted.
You should probably be prepare to break this down to first dealing with receiving codes, then once you are comfortable with that go the next step.
