$20 (was $24 )
Roars, nice gait, remote (sound) controlled, surely hackable.
Several different types of Dinos. Everyone has their favorite. I'm a Tricerastops man myself, but that T-Rex lunging action is boss.
What's not to like? Maybe Santa missed the mark this year and you need a little something more:

(Heck, Parallax ought to sell an intro robot kit like this. Dinosaurs are a no-brainer.)

That T-Rex kit was actually a JOY to build. The best $20 I've spent in years. Actually,$60; I ordered 2 more. :)

Bigger than I expected. Incredible accuracy on the die-cut plywood assembly, they absolutely nailed every joint fit. No sanding necessary! The parts cleanly press out of the plywood sheet and they all friction-fit together beautifully per the instructions. I was very pleasantly amazed at the process. It was a very entertaining 2.5 hours to build while watching TV. Highly recommended. I look forward to (finding time for) building the Triceratops.

The electronics are also very well done. IR remote control, plus sound & light responsive. Walking motion is sort of tilt/stride, one motor. A second motor does the lunge/mouth close motion. Sound is well-synced with the motion subroutines. Here's someone else's video of the action (mine's identical): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SqUyRjrvXI

Five stars from erco for this $20 kit. My girls love it too. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Robotime-3D-Dinosaur-Puzzle-R-C-Remote-Control-Robot-Wood-Model-Kit-T-Rex-/330859892962?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=&hash=item4d08c950e2

Cool, my son loves those 3D plywood puzzles, so this sounds right up his alley.
