I was having a discussion with a friend the other day about the trouble with working with Graphene.
    Thanks for the link.

If it's that simple, after all we all have DVD recorders and graphite oxide sounds like something we should be able to get hold of, where are the instructions for this experiment so that we can all play along at home?

Has anyone considered using the DVD reorder as a means of exposing UV sensitive PCB's?

    1) Cut thin UV sensitive board into a nice round CD shape.
    2) Expose it to required pattern with DVD laser as shown in the video linked above.
    3) Process and etch as normal.

I predict a lot of hobby PCB's will be round with a whole in the middle quite soon:)

It's pretty cool, but we'll have to see if it goes anywhere.

Did around 4 hours of research on this after seeing that video...

Two immediate problems I couldn't resolve to do this in the lab.

    1) How was the graphite oxide applied uniformly to the surface of the plastic. I'm thinking vaporization.
    2) Priced the Graphite Oxide, felt like I was trying to buy gold by the ounce.

I applied a thin layer of Graphene to the sticky side of discarded Christmas present bows. Let me tell ya, the results were incredible.

Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graphite_oxide) states that “Additionally, exposing a film of graphite oxide to the laser of a LightScribe DVD has also revealed to produce quality graphene at a low cost.”

This is attributed to *El-Kady, Maher.*"Laser Scribing of High-Performance and Flexible Graphene-Based Electrochemical Capacitors". Science Magazine.
