Where to post a question on this forum?

I have been given an oppurtunity to sell down the surplus equipment that my organization has. I have been doing this for 3 months now and we have over 300 touch screens that are new but purchased in 2005. I have been trying to locate the end users of these touch screens and have had zero success. I've gone to the manufacture and distributors there is no lock selling it back ot them. I've gone to Electronic Brokers who are either offer very little for the whole lot or consignment agreements. I wanted to use this forum to find out who are the end users of the touch screens I have.

Where would be the best catgeory to post this question?

For general inquiries, such as who might be able to use the screens, the General Discussion forum is the place to go. Be sure to post as much information about them as you can. If it turns out that they can be used in conjunction with Parallax products, you can announce their availability in the Classifieds forum. If they're not Parallax-product-compatible, there's a risk that advertising there may run afoul of the rules against spam, so it doesn't hurt to ask first, once you believe there to be a market here.

It looks like they are hardware compatible as they have a uart with a wide range of baud rates all of which can be done by the propeller.

However, someone would have to write the software to talk to the graphical OS these displays use.

Thanks very much! I will leave my thread posted up in the classified and put this information with it.

My thread in General Discussion was merged with my thread in classifieds -- do you know why this is?

I would rather cancel my classified post, and leave the other in general discussion. How do I get this fixed?!

One of the other moderators might have done it, since the appropriateness of posting in the classifieds had been established.

If you're selling something, it belongs in the Classified forum. Did you change your mind about selling them?

Thanks Phil. I joined this forum to get help on locating who are the types of end users for these touch screens, not to sell them to the end users. I do want to sell them but I need to nail down WHO the end users are. Can my thread be posted back up in General Discussion?

I guess I'm confused, since the following from your thread clearly indicates that they are being offered for sale, and the thread carries a [FOR SALE] header in the title.
    SELLING PRICE: $155 (per screen)
    RETAIL PRICE: $315.00 (per screen)
    YOU SAVE: $160.00

    Hi Phil.

    I posted two threads:

Thread 1) in General Discussions which did not specify pricing or promote the fact that they are for sale, only asking for help to find out who uses these touch screens

Thread 2) In classifieds, which states these touch screens are for sale.

I want to cancel the classified thread and renew the general discussion thread 1.

    I hope that makes sense.

Unfortunately, there's no way to unmerge the two former threads. And I can't very well delete a thread that has postings from other members. My advice is this: edit the first post in the Classifieds thread to indicate that nothing is being offered for sale, and I'll move the whole shebang back to the General Discussion forum. 'Sound okay?

Thank you very much. I would rather start a new thread in General Discussion, I'll state clearly I am not selling these here. Is that okay?

That's fine, but please also edit the FOR SALE post or just change the tag to [SOLD] so people don't contact you to buy them.

Thanks Phil. My main purpose for joining this forum was to find out what type of companies would use the touch screens that I have. Then when joining I saw that you guys have Classifieds and also wanted to post them for sale there. Would this be okay?

I've been reinstated, would it be alright if re-posted my question in General Discussions?

In order to keep things simple and not risk additional moderation, I would post the question in your Classifieds thread. You can edit your original post in that thread if you want the question to appear at the top with the classifieds offering.
