Is there an IR transparent filter for the Sharp IR sensor?

I'd like to hide several of the sensors in my project and was wondering if something like the red acrylic used for LED displays would work, or would the sensor just measure the distance to the acrylic? The datasheet doesn't mention the wavelength of the sensor's emitter. Thanks.

They tend to gouge on shipping, so you might find it cheaper on ebay or elsewhere.
