Am I blind or does this part not exist?

I'm looking at a device which is controlled by a variable resistor.

Is there a micro-controllable device which the variable resistor can be replaced?

Ether this part doesn't exist, or I'm just really blind.

Which is it?

Thanks!
Jeff

What do you want to control with your variable resistor, what voltage, current and frequency?

I have successfully used the I2C controlled MCP4441 and MCP4018 in my Prop projects.

    motorized pots

    digital pot ICs

For the digital pots you need to understand a little bit about the circuit, to know what voltage is being applied to the ends of the existing pot for instance. Some of the analog devices pots have a wider voltage range on the ends of the resistor, eg +/- 12v.

Thank you for the links! (and expanding my knowledge a little more today.)

Exactly what I was looking for..

Keep in mind that most digital pots can handle only a teeny bit of current.
