I'm very supprised that you were able to make enough torque to close the fingers using the Parallax Standard Servo.
I've done a couple of fingers using a similar technique, but made of wood and roofing membrane as hinges.
I always have trouble generating the needed torque to curl the finger properly.
The wireless controll is also very interesting.
