Following the link in this thread I found this;

How are your powers of observation?

Can you find the LED:

    Gaaaah!

    First, I observed that it's a GIF, which immediately suggests animated GIF. Waiting for the LED to flash. Nope.

    Hmmm. Maybe it's one of those Magic Eye 3D things. 'Tried crossing my eyes every which way. Nope.

    Maybe it's in the white space between the diodes. 'Loaded it into Corel PhotoPaint and reversed the black and white. Nope.

    Perhaps Heater's just yanking everybody's chain., pretending to have found it. Yep; I bet that's it. :)

    No, I can't find it. It also doesn't seem to be formed from a set of the diodes, i.e., the image has one large LED made up of the diodes and whitespace.

    Edit: Ok, I found it now. It's a bit rough, sort of like an archeologist saying "They had a corral here. I know because there are specific types of rocks in the ground in a repeating pattern." It's indicative, but not what you imagine a corral looks like.

    Just imagine that each one of those diodes was a LED. A LED matrix.
    Now imagine you turn on all the LEDs that have their cathodes on the left.
    What do yo see now?

    Okay, but the question asks if "you" can see it, and since I'm reading the question, I presume I'm the "you" in this case, in which case I can't lie: I just suck at puzzles like this. But don't feel sorry for me - save your sympathy for Phil. The poor man gets drawn into these things and squanders valuable time he could be working on his Prop-based thermal imager that I'm still waiting for.

    If you hold a piece of perfboard or stripboard in front of the screen at just the right distance so one hole is in front of each small
    diode image, and move it around slowly while squinting hard, it only just becomes visible - you can judge if the distance is right
    when the moire pattern gets larger.

    I don't get it. Since an LED is a diode, what is to say that the visual aid is correct? They all look the same to me.
