How to install Eddie Control board firmware on Linux?

I am running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and have created a C++ project to send and receive commands to the Eddie Control Board. However, I am not sure how to install the necessary firmware (550-28990-EddieFirmware-v1.1.zip) on to my Ubuntu machine.
