Best circuit simulation software? (preferably free)?

Hi,

I'm building a large circuit composed entirely of logic gates and basic components that I would like to simulate before actually constructing. I have been looking around the internet for some good (and hopefully free) circuit simulation software, but I haven't found what I was looking for. The software needs to be able to do either a live action or a timelapse graph of the circuit in action (e.g, not just DC checking) and be able to save the finished schematic. If anyone has any recommendations, I would greatly appreciate it.

LTspice has always worked well for me but none of them simulate magic smoke, the circuit continues to operate even if you have 500 amps going through an SOT-23 transistor!

Its not free but easily obtainable, especially in the academic community but I think MultiSim is the most intuitive sim ive seen and it has a HUGE library of parts

EDIT:Im not condoning the piratebay or something just meant you could probably get a copy easily if you or someone is in school for EE
