So I need to get some wifi on my bot... got plenty of 10/100 microchip ENJ chips along with cat5 connectors and I have a wiznet kit from parallax. I just need wifi to ethernet basically, I have a dlink box around here somewhere which is a little wifi bridge you configure via browser, then you give it a static ip along with your network card and plug it in... this would be a great solution except it doesnt support WPA2... Basically im looking for something small and cheap that can run ddwrt or something like that. I remember someone talking about some mini 3g gateway a while back I think it was embedded Linux based and could be flashed..
Ive also been looking in to USB to SPI chips for android open hardware stuff, what would be the possibility of getting a USB nic running with one of those, assuming the nic has open drivers.

You're using a microcontroller on your robot right? Wouldn't this be a good application for the little WiFi modules Jeff just ordered?
I think Jeff is planning on placing another order for these same modules soon.

Anyways the dlink thing is THIS and it doesnt support wpa2 nor do I see that it can be flashed... Im thinking Ill use this netlink AP or some other network gear to start another wifi network using the first as a gateway then I could just use WPA and throw this dlink adapter on my board.
I rember someone reccomending some cheap 20 dollar Chinese "3g Gateway" to use as wifi to Ethernet this product is also extremely usefull for many other things I wish I knew what thread I saw this in . I think something like this would work also but its a bit overkill although sweet for other mischievous wifi projects http://www.wisp.net.au/hornetub-embedded-board-atheros-ar9331-mips-80211n-openwrt-p-549.html
Did not go to China afterall, so I still have not tried it myself
