I've been pricing ESD form lately. Did you know that the pricing on that stuff is obscene?!

Best price I've found is $4.00 for a 4"x4" square! Gheesh!

I'll bet a bunch of you have a piles of this stuff laying around....

Before I place an order for a bunch of this, if someone here would like to turn 25" square inches of the stuff into a Quickstart for your shop, leave a message on this thread. I don't care if it's in pieces as small as 2"x2" (as long as it's clean and in "like new" condition.) I'll accept both PINK (static resistant) and BLACK (anti-static),

edit: needs to be thick enough to seat a DIP (around 1/4").

I'd rather toss a FREE Quickstart someone's way than dump a few more dollars in someone else's pocket!

(Propellerpowered.com is YOUR store, not theirs!)

    This costs less than $0.50 for 4" x 4"

    Made in the USA too!

Wanna trade one 24 x 36" sheet of it for 34 QuickStarts?

That's a better price than I've found. one 24x36" sheet for 34 Quickstarts? Nah.. :)

Offer stands.. If some here has 25 square inches of it, I'll be happy to swap you for a new Quickstart.

    Jeff

Edit: BTW, the secret plan is working.. Figured I'd give away one Quickstart in exchange for someone's stored foam and someone would post a good source for when I run out. ;)

I've an envelope made of the pink foam you can have. Cut down the sides, it would yield a sheet about 11" x 17".

    Let me know!

    PM sent!

Mission accomplished. 1) Solved immediate supply issue while doing something nice in return! 2) Tuned into solid source for restock!

    Love this group!

How do we test if its really ESD foam?

The brainettes started through the store room, and started digging out every piece of foam. The lab gnome says the pinks stuff SHOULD be ESD, but how do we check for sure?

I don't know about the pink stuff, but the black conductive foam should have a resistance less than infinite if you measure it with a meter. A piece I have at hand is around 2-3000 ohms per inch or so of probe separation. I've never seen pink foam, just bags and bubblewrap.

Between @braino and @ajward It looks like I'll have a good amount of ESD foam for a while.

I'm using this when you guys order chips.

Be sure and have "return addresses" in those packages so I know where to send the reward to.

    Thanks!

The darker pink foam tends to be "static resistant" and should be fine as I also incorporate the use of an ESD bag when you place your orders.

I've used this stuff before. It think it's good stuff and a little be less expensive per square inch than Rich's source. (I bet my source charges more for shipping since I have yet to find a better deal on something than what Rich finds.)
