Hi All,
After a time away from Prop , doing work related stuff, and recently...
I had an opportunity that I just couldn't pass, as I came across the memory map for the PacMan hardware, and as I'd always wanted to write an arcade game, since the 80's as I've converted games from Arcade to home computer, this time, I converted a home computer game to run on an arcade PCB.
I decided to get Manic Miner working on PacMan hardware, which I aptly named PacManicMinerMan ( came from ManicMiner inside PacMan ) anyway, on doing this, and acquiring the PCB, a UK arcade cabinet builder built a dedicated cabinet for it for me
Anyway, my workload has steadied up now, and is no longer mad busy, so have evenings and weekends free, I'm free to play with Prop.
And as I now have a built cabinet, I've been wanting to put a prop in it, since it was built, replacing the PacMan hardware.
So that is what I'm going to be working on next.
I'm going to try and emulate the PacMan hardware on a prop, ( hopefully one single prop, but it may go to two, depending on memory. )
Plus now that I have a cabinet, I will be making more prop games as I'd rather have multiple games in than just one on a PCB.
PS, it's great to be back on prop coding, I love how easy it is to get back into after being away for a while.
I've said it many times before, and I'll say it again, of all the processors and micro-controllers I've worked on, the Prop, is by far the best I'd had the pleasure of using!.

For me, that makes it hard to start a huge Prop1 project, when it would be so much easier with Prop2...
Peter, yeah, although I've not been propping, I've always tried to keep up with what's been going on when I could it's a hard forum to be away from for too long!
Rayman, I agree, Prop2 is getting closer by the minute, so I'm hoping I can finish this project before Prop2 comes out.
blittled, my propeller "game systems" were also gathering dust, to my dismay, and when I plugged them in yesterday, they wouldn't program the props, I even tried three USB cables, so I had a long 4 hours thinking it was something wrong with my PC, as I didn't think there would be anything wrong with prop, I was thinking maybe the USB port was having an issue with the FTDI drivers, or something, so after re-installing drivers, and even going to the extremes of doing a system restore back to a time when I know it worked programming the prop, that didn't work either then restored back to current time, which hung, and I had to reset it, which then led to booting to a black screen, so then thinking my PC was dead, I eventually managed to get it to boot into safe mode, as it kept missing me press F8 for some reason, anyway, it eventually got to safe mode, and I managed to restore it back to working order, and it turned out all three USB cables weren't working, I tried a fourth out of desperation, and it worked so, it just proves, I can't be keep away from the prop any longer! haha no matter what! muwhahahahaaaa

Glad you can get your regular Prop fix again; the Prop is quite addictive...
Bill, so am I bud! I've missed it's awesomeness! and it's bloody good enjoyable fun!
Welcome back brother!
(We need to get some game related collaboration project started)
While you were away, I wrote pacman in Spin
Manic Miner would be cool to do.
Jazzed, thanks It's been a long time coming, but I'm glad to be back!
Dr_Acula, thanks, and awesome PacMan vid
Welcome back!
Hope to see you and Coley at Maker Faire UK next year (if you're going :-) )
I haven't yet but I am planning on going, I want to take Harry (my son) and get him interested in making things....
I missed out when we exhibited a few years back as I didn't get a chance to have a proper look at everyone else, that will be different this time.
And good to see you back on the Prop forum Baggers, it's been too long!
It's coming to something when I am doing more Prop coding than you!!!
Regards,
Coley
Nice to see you too coley.

So now to clear the cobwebs over the next few days, and I'll be back too
Just been doing the quick check most days just for the thread titles, but avoided the p2 since I know it would take time I didn't have haha
