    I've seen Rostock and it's impressive, both in speed and build volume. I also saw a homemade CNC machine using a similar design with similar advantages. A delta robot trades off a simpler mechanical design for much more complicate kinematics and path planning. A big advantage is that you don't have the Z axis lifting the Y axis, or vice versa.

    Neat execution. Delta bots are very cool to watch, and they have every advantage in much higher speed and lower moving mass. But considering their high number of high-accuracy, zero-play pivoting joints and (per Martin_H) their infinitely more difficult motion control, and you see pretty quickly how traditional XYZ plotters make better, cheaper, RP machines. :)

    I would bet that those $2.50 Ebay stepper motors could be used just fine to make a homebrew XYZ RP machine. The heater/nozzle/feed remains the most complex and expensive part.
