Ok so I got the electronic gold mine surprise box I must say im a bit disapointed it was mostly film caps, power resistors and headers. Id hope so score on some motors relays IR stuff.. o well..

Anyways here are some parts that I just dont seem to know what they are, or I have an idea of what they do but not to sure what theyd be used for!

Ok so like an idiot I tossed all this stuff in the box again without pulling numbers but its ok Im just wondering what these genrally are, and the numbers on this tuff werent pulling up much of anything anyways!

First picture from left to right

#1 silver plastic thing, 43j Ih0d
#2 this is obviously a film cap, but what kind of caps are packaged like this are they polyester? Thinking these are good for AC decoupling better than the kind of film caps parallax sells?
#3 This thing looks like a black LED, doesnt light when I touch it to a button cell, draws about 13mA, current will pass one way like a diode, cant see light in front of a camera so its not IR emitter...

Pic #2
#1 Inductor? whys there four leads, is there a way to test inductance got about 6 of these.
#2 ST hi voltage Shottkey, datasheet here http://www.st.com/internet/com/TECHNICAL_RESOURCES/TECHNICAL_LITERATURE/DATASHEET/CD00003685.pdf So I know what it is but whats its use??
#3 Long thing have no idea what this is just random numbers from left to right pins are labeled +, ~, ~, -

Pic #3
#1 Item one have no idea what these are I got alot, are they caps, maybe small inductors, the number I belive is rlr7c 946ar, I know rlr7c is the first part not sure what was after 946
#2 This is very intresting looks like a 6 lead transistor?? labeled jt501 plus the number visible in pic...

I dont need exact answers on this stuff maybe the last item im really curious about the metal can, ive seen compass sensors like this. I just wanna know what im ookin at and whats not trash!

I bet Pic #1 item #3 is an IR emitter. It might emit a wavelength that your camera doesn't pickup well. Try looking at with it powered through the camera in a dark room so the camera's iris is more fully open.

I'd guess Pic #2 item #3 is a AC to DC rectifier with the AC going to the center two pins.

Pic #2 item #1 looks like a transformer.

    pic #1:
    item #1 is probably a 43pF poly-styrene cap
item #2 is a 0.1uf cap, WIMA is the manufacturer and the MKS-4 will tell you what kind it is

    pic #2:
item #2 looks to be a transformer, and yes, there are means to discover the "turns-ratio" of the primary and secondary windings
item #3 is a bridge rectifier as previously noted

    Pic #3:
item #1 looks like a metal film resistor, but I can't make it out in the picture clearly
item #2 could actually be a dual-transistor, but more than likely an op-amp or comparator

Pic #1, Item # 3 could be an IR diode or two lead IR transistor. Both styles would be the receiving end for your IR signal and are often black like that.

Wima MKS-4, Metallized Polyester capacitor (polyethylene terephthalate dielectric), very good quality capacitors, made in Germany I believe. I have a bunch of them. Photo 2 item 3 is almost surely a bridge rectifier. Photo 1 item 3 could be a 2 lead photo transistor optimized for IR?

Sacrifice one to a file, and see. Could be a thermal fuse, or an inductor - do some DC and AC measurements.

6 leads is most likely a dual-transistor, check with a meter - often they were matched pairs.
