I really thought the "QuickEE" name was funny. I "LOLd", but it was voted down by my business partner. (Sorry Bruce!)

Your partner should reconsider, because marketing and sales executives worldwide love anything that implies __x, because it helps sell goods, from beach balls to lollipops. Besides, it is catchy :)

In order to prevent gender prejudice, you could offer both male and female versions. Blue plastic for the men and pink plastic for the women
    :)

With (4) standoffs, the two could be coupled together for a brief period of time :)

Me? Really?!! Omigosh, I've never won a contest, and I haven't prepared a speech or anything!. Sooo many people have made this possible! I'd like to thank Jeff and Ken and Chip and Jeff, and my parents, my sixth-grade teacher Miss Wetzel, and my Aunt Emma Jean who gave me a Scrabble game, and my cat Browser, and ... and ... and [hyperventilating] I can't possibly name them all. 'Sorry, 'sorry, anyone have a tissue?

    -Phil

Jeff, 'truth be known, I'm pretty well set for QuickStarts. Could you pick a runner-up for the prize? I'll just wallow in the glory, if that's okay. :)

I suspected that course of action. PhiPi smokes the field, but passes on the prize!

Now OBC must reveal second place: the first loser! :)

I suspected you might be swimming in them, but I still want one of these to go somewhere interesting.

Any problem with a donation to Whit? (He was mentioned earlier in the thread)

Skylight, you were warned about posting that without proper warning on MattG's last contest thread. This forum has rather liberal social etiquette rules but that violates all of them!!!! The worst part is I keep falling for it! :0)

It's too bad Jeff doesn't have a prize more suited to someone like a lot of us who already have a pile of quickstarts (my company orders them 20 at a time). Something new and unique and maybe not yet on the market, for example. Something very useful to a quickstart hoarder. It's just a shame Jeff doesn't have something like that to offer Phil.

And @localroger points out the obvious item that was right in front of my nose! How could I miss that!??!

@Phil: He's dead on right! PM me your address. One of these COGSLEDs are on it's way to you tomorrow!

And here I was getting attached to the whatchamacallit moniker... Although godiemonkey would have had a nice ring to it, too...

Speaking of questionable name choices, was it just me who thought "Unobtainium" was a cheesy bad joke in "Avatar"?

Yes, it did sound like a plot element from Rocky and Bullwinkle*. But it was also a likely a riff on unbipentium (atomic number 125) which is one of the theoretical elements from the island of nuclear stability. It it exists it will likely be hard to find and who knows what uses (if any) it might have.

    * The mysterious explosive "hushaboom" sounds much more realistic to me.

The word "Unobtanium" has been in use for decades. It was pretty dumb of them to use it as the name of a substance that (supposedly) actually existed.

Yep. Should at least have been Illudium for their Pew-38 Space Modulators... that would have given it some class...

From this point on Every Winner in Contests (instigated by me anyway), shall be announced by...

Boom! There's Whit! I was worried that he was in one of those regions without power when he didn't check in.

@Whit, PM me you address so I can get a Quickstart out to you. :) (After you read the thread, you'll understand why)
