How is electric goldmine?

As far as i can tell this site is selling pre pulled scrap parts. is this site like futurelec where it takes a month to get parts. im really thinkin about ordering a few items. they have 6v electric screwdrivers for 1.93 thats a deal for real torquey geared motors

    Their customer service is excellent.
It's almost all surplus (it's not "pre-pulled scrap").

I've ordered from them several times. No problems whatsoever.

Only heard good things about the.
Caveat is that you really should order as many as you think you'll ever need as there's no telling if they'll ever get the part back in stock at a later time.
Using a part sourced there for a project you plan to sell or produce more batches of is asking for trouble.

Same - we get these awesome miscellaneous parts boxes and they've got all sorts of goodies in them. They've been reliable!

I haven't ordered from them for a while but I never had any problems. Another surplus place that is good is MPJA

    http://www.mpja.com/

Since you were looking at motors you may want to check these out:

I've used them as the main drive motors for a medium sized robot and they worked out great.

@Addy wow thanks I didnt even know that they had those things thats awesome! Are the parts labeled in any way, or just the numbers stamped on them? Whats the odds of getting 2 or 4 decent matching motors in one of those, im thinking about ordering the 7 dollar one but ill stick to the smaller one if its mostly unusable junk

@RW those motors are a bit more than im looking to spend right today, but I will definately be buying sets of some of there higher priced motors assuming there still there when I have the money, even though the stuffs a bit more pricey than EG the quality looks alot better

    Here is a UK equivalent:

I know the owner from way back.

I paid them a visit a couple of years ago. They make their own PCBs with a milling machine they built themselves, and do a lot of work for film and TV - control panels for James Bond films, for instance.

We call it surplus. Surplus is GOOD!

Elec Goldmine is run by Dennis Chaney and his son. Dennis has been in the electronics and surplus business since the early 1970s.

Are the parts in this box worth it and usable?

Yeah the parts are usable. And if you get one of something, you're bound to get 2...3...or 15 more. We have a lot of switches and resistors and little mini servos and such from the boxes. Also tons of LEDs.

Well worth the 5 bucks or silly cheap price for all of that

Reliable seller. Several good items on sale at EG now: http://www.goldmine-elec.com/

I'm getting a few of these cheap 5V adapters to power Stamp projects and IR beacons: http://www.goldmine-elec-products.com/prodinfo.asp?number=G17336

Looks like their small blue 6V solenoids are gone, sadly. Good thing I stocked up.

Or as Ken would call it, hoarding. But I'll use many of 'em for my upcoming xylophone project.

I can beat their price on cordless screwdrivers. A buck apiece for these!

Another great source of these Wall Worts, and all kinds of other stuff, is Garage Sales.
OK, for me in Minnesota, the garage sale season is over till spring.

I always dicker on price and rarely pay "retail". You can usually get them for about $0.50.

And yes, I am a serious HORDER too.
