ELEV-8 motor mount screw holes to be bevelled?

The motor mount screw holes ARE bevelled on the supplied metal brackets. The screw heads are bevelled and the actual thread length is pretty short.

Is anybody beveling the screw holes to get better thread contact?

Thanks,

Lawrence

I'm not using the metal brackets myself.

The 3mm screws that came with the red motors were barely long enough to use with the ELEV-8's mounts. The black replacement motors I ordered from HobbyKing have shorter screws so used some 8mm long 3mm screws to hold the motors in place (with LocTite).

    Hi Duane:

I'm NOT using the metal brackets either - they just showed why holes should be beveled.

    Thanks for your information.

How do I mark an "unsolved" thread "solved" ?

    Lawrence,

I used "MSPPS3008" machine screws from Micro Fasteners.

I'm sure they're avalable from other sites as well.

I'm using these on my homemade hexacopter with has slightly thicker plastic than the ELEV-8. A 6mm screw might be a better fit with the ELEV-8 plasitic.

Edit your original post post and choose "Go Advanced", there should be a drop down menu to mark it "Solved".
